I’ve been a lucky man to be able to write about all of the bands I write about. And luckier still that I got to know them in the first place.
My latest piece for Waxwing Literary Journal is on the extraordinary group Rising Appalachia, fronted by the talented, multi-instrumentalist sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith. I got to talk to them about their music, the need to stay independent, and the concept of Slow Music–taking more time in each location they tour in an effort to build bridges in the community.

Hey, I know them! (& they’ve always been great to Atlanta poets, collaborating with Theresa & the slam teams, paying them & pulling them up on stages 😉
The Slow Music angle really makes sense as an extension of how they’ve always talked about sustainability in one way or another.
