Waxwing Music: The Secret Emchy Society

by Nick Fox

It’s a great time to be writing about music. New voices, new audiences, new ways of getting the music out there. That isn’t always translating to financial success for the bands involved, but it is helping to put some voices that were shoved to the margins make their way to bigger stages.

Bay Area musician Cindy Emch, who heads up The Secret Emchy Society, is one of those artists. A long time staple of the music scenes in Oakland and San Francisco, she’s finding a particularly good groove with her latest band, kicking open the doors of country music with a great, catchy sound and wonderfully evocative songs.

My latest piece for Waxwing Literary Journal talks about her band, and the scene. And you can read it right here.
